D&I Index of Law Firms is an annual survey conducted by the Business Initiative for Racial Equality in partnership with GO Associados, which analyzes institutional practices, internal policies, recruitment processes, communication and data on representation of minority groups in law firms.

The index brings together information from firms that provide legal services to large Brazilian companies and has become, in its second edition, the main reference for legal and corporate leaders who seek to monitor their partners' commitment to the DEI agenda.

The Index observes five dimensions of diversity:

  • Race (black people)
  • Gender (cis and trans women)
  • LGBTQIA+
  • People with Disabilities (PCD)
  • People 45+

In addition, the Law Firm D&I Index organizes its assessment into six technical pillars, which allow measuring everything from institutional commitment to concrete results in terms of representation. Each pillar analyzes documentary evidence, internal policies, processes and indicators declared by the offices.

Pillar I — Institutional Commitment (10%)

Evaluates the internal structure dedicated to the topic, including the existence of a DEI area, formal policies, strategic guidelines, diagnostic mechanisms and awareness initiatives. It is the basis that reveals whether the firm integrates diversity into its values, mission and governance.

Pillar II — Recruitment and Promotion (10%)

Examines talent attraction, selection and development practices, such as affirmative programs, transparent progression criteria, mentoring, career paths and initiatives that reduce bias in the selection process.

Pillar III — DEI Communication (10%)

Considers the way in which the office communicates commitments, results and values linked to diversity, both internally and to the market. Includes campaigns, listening channels, informative materials, training and public positions.

Pillar IV — Group Inclusion Policies (10%)

Evaluates specific rules, guidelines and actions created to support underrepresented groups.

Pillar V — Representation by Group (40%)

It is the most important pillar and the one that reveals the real impact of the policies adopted. Measures the proportional presence of each group (race, gender, LGBTQIA+, PWD and 45+) at all hierarchical levels, including:

This pillar shows how much the office converts policies into concrete results.

Pillar VI — Role of Leadership (20%)

Compares leaders' perception of diversity with actual representation data. Analyzes engagement, clarity of vision, diagnostic capacity and alignment between discourse and practice.

The result was presented on November 18th, during the International Corporate Racial Equity Forum, at the FIESP headquarters, in São Paulo, on the panel “Result of the D&I Index of Law Firms 2025 – Outstanding Recognitions”.

In 2025, 111 offices serving companies that signed the movement were analyzed.
