The Maneira Advogados firm announced, this Wednesday (29/9), the merger with two other specialist firms in Belo Horizonte. Brito & Maia Advogados and Carneiro Advogados will become part of Maneira, which will have headquarters in the capital of Minas Gerais, expected to start in October.

With the merger, more than 30 professionals will be part of the Belo Horizonte structure. Maneira also has offices in Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and São Paulo. The firm is recognized by the main national and international guides, especially in the areas of Corporate, Civil and Labor Law, with a team that has over 20 years of experience.

“We now have a much stronger, more complete team. The profile of the partners, for the most part, has a master's or doctorate, has federal or foreign universities”, says Pedro Brito, partner at Brito & Maia Advogados, incorporated into Maneira.

On Brito & Maia's side, in addition to Pedro Brito, partners André Brito, Felipe Maia, Gláucia Fernandes, Eduardo Caixeta and José Elias de Pádua join Maneira. At Carneiro Advogados, Bárbara Carneiro, Jéssica Brito, Ana Paula Gomes, Julia Araujo and Camila Cavaliere, specialists in Tax Law, become part of the new firm.

The Strategic Civil area will also feature the participation of new partners Bruno Mendonça and Arthur Elias. Lawyers Pedro Ribas and Gabriela Maciel, who worked in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, respectively, will also join the Belo Horizonte team. They will work in the areas of tax litigation and consultancy.

Recently, Maneira Advogados had already joined Ecija. Based in Spain, the office is one of the largest in Europe and has a massive presence in Latin America.

New headquarters

Maneira's headquarters in Belo Horizonte is located on Avenida Getúlio Vargas, in Bairro Negócios, in the Center-South Region of Belo Horizonte. The first part of the structure will be ready in October, while the second half is expected to be completed in December.

Pedro Brito said that he was an intern for Eduardo Maneira, founding partner of the firm, approximately 20 years ago. During this time, Maneira spent time at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and moved from Belo Horizonte to Rio de Janeiro, where he was a professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

“He then decided to return to Belo Horizonte and contacted me and Bárbara (Carneiro), who works with Tax (Law), however, with greater emphasis on the consultancy part, in tax planning, so that we could join them. We must have been talking for four months”, he said.

For Eduardo Maneira, who is originally from Araxá, returning to Belo Horizonte means a lot, since Minas Gerais is part of the office's history. “Our arrival in Belo Horizonte is very important not only because of the relevance of the Minas Gerais market and its representation on the national scene, but also because Minas is in the DNA of our history”, he concludes.
